The PMBOK® 7th edition, shifts from the process-based approach to a principle-based approach.

 Specifically for the 7th ed.:

 There are 12 principles in PMBOK® which define the “what” and “why” of the project delivery:

Previous editions of the PMBOK® Guide consisted of 5 Process Groups: Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring & Controlling, and Closing.

In the PMBOK® Guide 7th Edition, The Standard for Project Management focuses the Value Delivery System, with its focus on delivering valuable outcomes and value to the organization and stakeholders.

About the exam (brief):

No. of Scored Questions: 175
No. of Pretest (Unscored): 5
Total No. of Questions: 180 in 230 timed minutes.

  • Two 10-minute breaks in the exam. The first after you complete question 60 and review all of your answers.
  • The second break will appear after you have completed question 120 and confirmed that you have reviewed all of your answers.

Proportion of questions from each domain that will appear on the examination as per domain:

Predictive, agile, and hybrid approaches will be found throughout the three domain areas listed above which are not isolated to any specific domain or task.

 Key Requirements:

  • A four-year degree
  • 36 months leading projects
  • 35 hours of project management education/training or CAPM® Certification

  • A high school diploma or an associate’s degree (or global equivalent)
  • 60 months leading projects
  • 35 hours of project management education/training or CAPM® Certification
