Where exactly is the University of Strathclyde?

Strathclyde MBA Greece

In Glasgow, Scotland. Strathclyde Business School is one of the 4 faculties of the University of Strathclyde which was founded in 1796. A Royal Charter University, Strathclyde is the third largest University in Scotland, and the largest centre of postgraduate education in the UK. The vision statement of the University is “The Place of Useful Learning” which it adopted at its founding in 1796.

In December 2012, The University of Strathclyde was named the UK University of the Year 2012/2013 in the Times Higher Education Awards and in 2019 received the same title for the 2nd time. Judges described Strathclyde as a “bold, imaginative and innovative institution” and the University earned praise for its close links with business and industry and commitment to making an impact on the global economy

Strathclyde Business School is one of the oldest, largest and most respected Business Schools in the UK. It has been consistently ranked in the top 10 Business Schools in the UK in terms of both research and teaching quality, and is a pioneer in the field of management education being the first UK Business School to offer a:

  • One year Full-time MBA programme (1966)
  • ‘Part-time’ MBA programme in the UK (1976)
  • ‘Distance Learning’ MBA in the UK (1983)
  • ‘International Part-time’ MBA (1988 – Hong Kong/Malaysia/Singapore)
  • ‘Credit-based’ MBA (1995)

We believe that we offer one of the best MBA learning experiences in the world. A bold statement, but one we believe we can justify. We are educational pioneers – and the Strathclyde MBA, the first full time one year MBA programme in the UK – has been continually evolving, improving and striving to reflect current practice since 1966. We are one of only less than 1% business schools in the world to hold international accreditation from the 3 business education hallmarks of excellenceAMBA, AACSB and EQUIS.

What is the Strathclyde International Part-time MBA in Shipping?

The Strathclyde ‘International Part-time MBA in Shipping’ is a 180 credit, two year duration, part-time, taught General MBA programme with a specialism in Shipping. With the exception of the mode of study, the International part-time MBA in Greece is in all respects, identical to that offered on a full-time basis in the UK; the entry criteria, programme content and assessment, books and core learning materials are the same, and it is taught by the same Strathclyde academics who teach in Glasgow.

How is the MBA in Shipping delivered?

Throughout the program, there are about 14 weekends where Strathclyde Professors visit Greece to teach an intensive seminar.  In addition, there are local counselling sessions (once per week) run by practitioners/seminar instructors who teach, complementing Strathclyde Professors. The program will be administered by Strathclyde’s Greek Center in Athens. Students will be supplied with all learning materials, textbooks, seminar notes, DVD’s etc. In addition they will have full access to the University’s ONLINE databases since they will be registered as a STRATHCLYDE STUDENT, and will be supplied with a student Identification card. All remaining administration will be covered by the Athens office. Further details on the Shipping specialism in our relevant web page.
