As far as the relationship existed between the University of Strathclyde and King Charles III, Professor Sir Jim McDonald, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Strathclyde, said:

“On behalf of the leadership, Court, Chancellor, staff and students of the University of Strathclyde, I welcome the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III as Monarch of the United Kingdom and Commonwealth, accompanied by his wife, Camilla, as Queen Consort.

“After the world mourned the passing of his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, we now anticipate a future in which global events will bring great change and, at times, uncertainty. However, we are confident that, like his mother, the King will be a source of stability and continuity for the UK, the Commonwealth and the world at large.

“This change will also be full of opportunities and possibilities of a kind which the King has always been enthusiastic about such as tackling the effects of climate change, public health and creating an inclusive economy.  Seizing such opportunities will depend upon innovation, for advancement and for the broadening of horizons in science, engineering, industry, business, humanities, social sciences and the arts.

“At Strathclyde, these pursuits are central to our ambitions and values and we will continue to play our part in shaping and informing the world that will define the King’s reign. We hope that his reign will be long, peaceful and prosperous and that the day of his Coronation will be remembered with fondness.”
