MSc in Sales and Marketing – Strathclyde Business School

The University of Strathclyde Business School in partnership with DIRECTION BUSINESS NETWORK and under the auspice of the Hellenic Sales Institute is offering an MSc in Sales and Marketing Management which can be studied part time at Strathclyde’s centre in Greece. Direction Business Network daily provides timely, accurate and essential information through publications that have been on the market since 1993, aiming to highlight and support different sectors of the Greek economy. It issues a significant number of business publications and newsletters while maintaining a strong on-line presence, establishing award frameworks, etc.

HSI (the Hellenic Sales Institute) was established more than 20 years now and presently has a large base of members (around 300 Sales Executives and 2,000 plus salespeople). HSI will work (as agent for the course) together with our local Greek Center to promote this new course. At the same time, the academic environment in Greece resembles this of the UK since local universities also do not offer a PGT degree with a clear focus on sales. This generates additional opportunities for synergies. This mode collaboration with a national professional association) is also a test as to whether it will allow considering the launching of the proposed program in the UK as well as in other appropriate international campuses of the Business School.

The sales profession is being impacted by the rise of digitization – e-commerce and data analysis is increasingly demanded of the sales workforce. The volume of data now available can give insights into markets that only 10 years ago would have seemed impossible – however, the amount of data available can prove overwhelming so an understanding of the difference between useful and superfluous date and the tools to apply it are now a necessity for sales professionals.

The salesforce increasingly needs to be a hybrid of traditional executive, big data expert and digital channel guru. To future proof the sales function – and by extension the ability to get goods and services to market – requires the development of a new set of knowledge skills and behaviors that the University of Strathclyde Business School is uniquely placed to support.

As a result, Strathclyde has designed a course with a digital focus and a stakeholder-centric nature to enhance management knowledge and leadership capabilities.

A fully integrated cross-faculty and cross-disciplinary team has worked together to pull together the business school’s expertise in Digital Transformation, Sales, Marketing and Organisational Transformation for the programme.

The MSc Sales and Marketing Management programme provides a generalist multidisciplinary qualification to B2B and B2C professionals to enable professionals to move from a functionalist position to a senior, strategic leadership position in their organization.

Strathclyde’s applied, experiential and personalized approach ensures a learning experience that will benefit both participants and their organisations directly and will allow for a quick return on investment, with learning being able to be implemented into the workplace immediately. The programme provides a flexible approach to learning using a blend of face to face, virtual and digital learning to maximise impact.

The course is taught in English and studied part time over two years. Those admitted to the programme are expected to have a minimum of two years’ relevant work experience. Applications are now being accepted for a course start date of September 2021.

The University is currently investing £ 650m in the modernization of its teaching infrastructure.
